Man City: Spencer Owen makes Joao Cancelo claim

YouTuber Spencer Owen has given his verdict on Joao Cancelo following his loan move from Manchester City to Bayern Munich.

The Lowdown: Cancelo joins Bayern

Cancelo left Pep Guardiola’s side on deadline day and joined the Bundesliga outfit on loan, with the deal containing an option to buy which would cost £61.5m.

The Portuguese full-back didn’t feature in the Premier League club’s last two matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur.

Along with his fellow teammates Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, Cancelo was named in last season’s PFA Team of the Season, but it seems as though friction behind the scenes has led to the defender parting ways.

The Latest: Owen gives Cancelo verdict

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Saturday Social, Owen claimed something could be wrong with the player as he had recently struggled for minutes with City and Portugal.

He stated: “I understand why it’s happened, Pep’s got a zero-tolerance policy once players’ heads have turned or they get a little bit negative in the changing room, which he has been.

“I think the only thing that interests me about Cancelo – we all know how good he is and how good has been for them – is he wasn’t starting Portugal in the World Cup after a few games, either.

“So something’s not right, there; he’s dropped off form, not just at City. But I think he’ll smash it in the Bundesliga and be a great player there.”

The Verdict: Bayern bargain

We believe that Cancelo’s time at City could well be reaching its conclusion with Bayern having the option to buy him at the end of the season.

It’s not the first time that Guardiola has fallen out with a quality player in his career as a manager. The Spaniard fell out with former City midfielder Yaya Toure – a player who has been hailed as one of the Premier League’s finest.

Cancelo’s teammate Phil Foden labelled him as ‘one of the best’ full-backs in the world, so in our view, paying just over £60m for a player of his quality is a pretty decent fee from a Bayern perspective.

A move to Germany is potentially a great one for the player as he’s already won a number of trophies in Manchester. Bayern are an absolute force in the Bundesliga, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he would pick up some more winners’ medals.

Essentially, he could be swapping winners for winners in our view, based on Bayern Munich’s accolades.

Everton injury news on Calvert-Lewin

talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor says Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s latest injury is a ‘big blow’ for Everton, and his injury record in general is ‘really worrying’.

The Lowdown: Major doubt

Calvert-Lewin reportedly ‘looks certain’ to miss the Merseyside derby away at Liverpool tonight, after missing training for four days in a row.

Sean Dyche has confirmed that he is ‘touch and go at best’ for the game, and has been carrying a ‘niggly hamstring’ that he played with in the 1-0 win at home to Arsenal.

The Latest: Agbonlahor reacts

Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor says that Calvert-Lewin’s latest setback is a ‘big blow’, and his poor injury record is a worry for Dyche:

“It’s a big blow for Everton.

“He was a bit more like the Calvert-Lewin we know against Arsenal.

“He was physical and a handful, but these injuries are really worrying.

“When he’s at full pelt for more than 30 minutes or a half – he seems to always come out with a knock.

“That’s not a good sign.

“Especially when they’ve only got Maupay and Simms in reserve.

“It’s a worry for Dyche, and I’m sure he’ll be wanting to get to the bottom of these injuries.”

The Verdict: Too unreliable

Unfortunately, Calvert-Lewin has become too unreliable in terms of his availability.

The striker missed the first part of the season with a knee injury, and also missed a chunk of games before and after the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

This has meant that he has struggled with consistency, scoring just goal-shy in the Premier League in general.

Nonetheless, Dyche does not have many better options available, with Neal Maupay also struggling in front of goal, and Ellis Simms only been recalled from his loan spell at Sunderland in January.

It will be interesting to see who the manager goes with up top, especially if Calvert-Lewin is confirmed to be ruled out.

Ratcliffe Man United bid for majority stake

Sky Sports News presenter Tom White has revealed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid to buy Manchester United was for a 69% share in the club, which is the same percentage currently owned by the Glazer family.

What’s the latest on United’s ownership?

Bids have arrived from Ratcliffe and from a Qatari consortium, with both interested parties expressing their desire to bring United back to the summit of football, as well as investing in the infrastructure of the club.

It has now been revealed that Ratcliffe’s bid will be for a stake high enough that the Glazers would be completely removed from the club, rather than bidding for a minority stake or joint ownership.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, White explained the latest news surrounding this revelation about the bid.

“Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid for the club is for 69% of Manchester United. It’s interesting because it’s exactly how much is currently owned by the Glazer family,” he stated.

“The Glazer family would not be involved if Sir Jim Ratcliffe buys the club, the Glazers would be gone completely.

“Ratcliffe may also seek to buy the rest of the shares, they’re traded on the New York Stock Exchange, but that would be in the future. For now, it’s for 69% of the club.”

Good news for United?

This is good news for United, given that if the takeover from Ratcliffe and INEOS goes ahead, then the Glazers would be completely out of the club. Indeed, there has been much anger directed towards the Glazers in their 17 years at the helm of United, and new owners who do not place debt onto the club will be happily welcomed.

With the Red Devils now unbeaten in eight games in all competitions and a top-four place looking extremely likely, it would be brilliant for Ten Hag to get new owners in ahead of the summer to potentially have a huge transfer kitty to bolster key areas.

They are targeting a star striker in particular, with Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen both linked with big-money moves to Old Trafford, and proper backing from a new owner could go a long way in their pursuit of a star forward to help propel the side towards major silverware.

Ten Hag’s side have been impressive despite only being able to add Wout Weghorst on loan as an attacking signing in the January window, and landing a star player could help them challenge for the Premier League next season.

Chelsea ‘refusing to budge’ over Mount deal

Chelsea are ‘refusing to budge’ regarding midfielder Mason Mount’s current contract offer.

The Lowdown: Mount’s future in doubt

The Englishman’s future has been a major talking point at Stamford Bridge of late, with his contract expiring in 2024 and talks currently at an impasse.

Mount has continued to be an important figure for both club and country this season, making 30 appearances for the Blues overall and also appearing four times for England at the 2022 World Cup.

Now, a new update has suggested that Mount could move on during the summer transfer window due to a reluctance from the club to shell out top level wages.

The Latest: New update emerges

According to Football Insider, Chelsea are ‘refusing to badge’ with their current contract offer for Mount, despite him wanting to be one of the highest-earning players at the club.

Both Liverpool and Juventus are believed to be keeping a close on the situation, with the pair having ‘genuine interest’ in signing the 24-year-old.

The Verdict: Surely he will extend?

This is clearly a worrying development from a Chelsea perspective, with Mount someone who has come through the youth system and excelled, being hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by Joe Cole.

He has often knitted the midfield and attack together beautifully, registering 70 goal contributions (33 goals and 37 assists) in 190 appearances, and losing him ahead of his peak years would be a blow.

It could be that Mount has to accept Chelsea’s lower offer if he really wants to stay put, however, so a lot may end up depending on how much he feels valued.

He should be viewed as a massive player moving forward under Graham Potter, though, and his performances justify an increase on his current £80,000-a-week wages.

Chelsea eyeing ‘genius’ Potter successor

Chelsea are eyeing Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti as a potential replacement for Graham Potter, according to a report.

The Lowdown: Potter’s future in doubt

Potter replaced Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea manager at the beginning of September, however his tenure at the club has been less than impressive so far, with it recently emerging that the club are considering sacking him if results don’t improve.

The Blues have been linked with a move for former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, while Jose Mourinho has also been talked up as a candidate for the job, should he be willing to leave A.S Roma, however another Serie A manager has now entered the frame…

The Latest: Spalletti considered…

According to a report from Il Mattino, Chelsea have now started to set their sights on Spalletti, although they may have to move swiftly if they want to secure his services, given the level of interest.

It is stated that fellow Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and even Liverpool could be potential destinations for the Italian, who will not be short of offers after his success at Napoli.

The Verdict: Get it done?

Potter appears to be on very thin ice at Chelsea, after winning just nine of the 23 Premier League games he has managed since taking over earlier this season, and upcoming matches could be vital for his future.

The Blues face a tough test away against rivals Tottenham on Sunday, and the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 match against Borussia Dortmund is pencilled in at the start of March.

Spalletti, who has been hailed as a ‘genius’ by the media, is unlikely to be available until the summer, as he will probably want to win the Serie A with Napoli before considering his future, and so Todd Boehly should give his current manager a few more games to save his job.

However, if results do not improve, then the Italian, who was won eight trophies in his managerial career, would be an excellent replacement, and his play-style would get fans off their seats, most often utilising an attacking 4-3-3 formation.

Newcastle eyeing James Maddison summer swoop

Newcastle United are still interested in the possibility of signing James Maddison ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Will Newcastle sign James Maddison in the summer?

The Magpies have been heavily linked with potentially signing Maddison in the past with the Toon believed to have lodged two bids for the Leicester City man over the summer.

Having seen those bids knocked back, it is believed this summer could offer the Magpies with another opportunity to land the England international.

Maddison will go into the summer with just one year remaining on his deal with the Premier League side as he reportedly seeks the possibility of playing Champions League football.

Speaking on the House of Champions YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Tyneside club are in love with Maddison ahead of the summer window:

(6:45) “And then a creative midfielder, there is a player they really love who is James Maddison, who is doing very well for Leicester and he’s a player they always had at the top of their list. And I’m sure they will try again before the summer.”

Who else is interested in signing James Maddison?

It has been made apparent Eddie Howe’s men are one of the clubs who would be keen to bring Maddison in over the summer window, but reports suggest they may not be the only ones.

Tottenham Hotspur are another side who are believed to hold an interest in Maddison with the north London club currently battling the Toon for a spot in the top four this season.

And if Champions League football is something which Maddison is targeting then the final months of this season for both these clubs could be crucial in their believed interest in the midfielder.

However, in recent weeks reports have emerged suggesting Manchester City are another club that could look to sign Maddison over the summer.

The summer will offer Leicester their last real opportunity to bring in a decent sum of money for their midfielder if he isn’t to sign a new deal.

But for Newcastle and Spurs, the potential interest coming from City could prove a serious issue with Pep Guardiola’s side being able to offer him a regular battle for the Premier League title.

The issue with City may lie in whether the player feels he could secure himself regular football with the likes of Kalvin Phillips having recently moved to the Etihad Stadium and struggling to establish himself in the side.

Regardless of what teams are in the race to sign Maddison in the summer, it does feel as if landing a spot in the Champions League could be essential for the Toon if they are to pursue the 26-year-old.

West Ham may be in line for huge windfall

West Ham United could be in line for a mega-money windfall as journalist Pete O’Rourke shares some news on minority shareholder Daniel Kretinsky.

The Lowdown: Kretinsky becomes stakeholder…

In 2021, the Czech billionaire completed his purchase of a 27% stake in West Ham, giving the club a financial boost off-the-field and adding to their pool of investors.

The deal was worth around £180 million-£200 million, and it was a move which propelled Kretinsky on to the West Ham board – making him the second-largest shareholder.

There have been murmurs that the Sparta Prague owner could well increase his stake with Kretinsky agreeing the  option to instigate a full takeover in his 2021 deal.

The Latest: West Ham in line for Kretinsky windfall?

As per journalist O’Rourke, writing for Football Insider, Kretinsky is now keen to increase his stake with a new £150 million investment.

The magnate is apparently interested in acquiring David Gold’s shares with the former West Ham chief having sadly passed away in January.

A £150m+ deal for Gold’s shares would bring Kretinsky’s stake up to 52%, making him the majority shareholder, with O’Rourke suggesting this could happen ‘as soon as this season’.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-latest-news-6/” title=”West Ham latest news” poster=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/cropped-david-moyes-premier-league-scaled-1.jpg” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: Good news?

Of course, this could be good news for West Ham and supporters who have specifically taken issue with club hierarchy in recent seasons.

There have been fierce protests in the last two seasons, fracturing the relationship between fans and ownership, and especially after the club moved to the London Stadium from their previous Boleyn Ground.

As West Ham battle relegation on the pitch, they could be overdue a promising development off the field, with a £150m+ windfall certainly coming as just that.

It will be interesting to see if this development does indeed come to fruition before the end of this season.

Football is one of those sports where you can spend time with friends or family members, making sure that everyone gets involved in some way or another. You can also play with other teams from around your area which gives people more opportunities to socialize with others outside their usual circle at home or the workplace. Many online casino sites offer chat options or ways to help out a friend by sending him a tip (so that he or she can start wagering).

The World Cup and the Super Bowl Great Gambling Potential

The World Cup is one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar, and it regularly attracts many more viewers than even the Super Bowl does. This is because more people are interested in football than any other sport and they have been since before television was invented. In fact, when you think about it, football has been around for centuries longer than any other popular sport on Earth!

The World Cup is held every four years (except during wartime), and takes place in different countries around the world – this means that sometimes it’s held close to where you live so you can go see all those famous players live at your local stadium or arena. It usually takes place between June and July each year; however, there have been times when they’ve had to change this date due to bad weather conditions like snowstorms etcetera…

Gambling on football is big business for both online and offline bookmakers, with thousands of people placing bets every single day on their favourite teams, players and competitions from across the globe.

It’s not just serious punters who enjoy placing a wager on their team though; many football fans enjoy gambling purely for fun or perhaps as an opportunity to win some extra cash. Whatever your reason for betting on football may be, there are plenty of options available online so don’t hesitate!

Gambling on football is a great way to make money. There are many different ways to gamble on football, each with its own set of rules and regulations, similar to what each online casino has – but all can be fun, entertaining and profitable if you follow these simple tips:

Gambling on the Premier League can be made more profitable by using good odds from trustworthy bookmakers such as Ladbrokes or bet365. When gambling on specific matches or markets it is important that you understand exactly what you’re betting on before placing any bets because some markets may not be available at certain times during the season (for example when teams are playing in European competitions) and there may be restrictions placed upon your gambling account by certain bookmakers (such as only being able to bet £5 per person per week). Gambling on quality markets, having good odds and knowing when to pull out at the right time

Identifying Value in Markets on most online casinos.

The first step in being profitable as a football punter is identifying value in your market. This means finding something that other people aren’t seeing or don’t think about. If there is something obvious then everyone will take advantage of it and the odds will get shorter (and therefore harder for you). For example, let’s say there’s an old striker who has been injured all season but he just came back from injury last week against Spurs – he scored 2 goals and created another chance which could have been converted into another goal if not for some poor finishing by his teammates! You could find some reasons why this player might be able to score against Watford today like “he’s fit again”, “he played really well last week” etc…but these things aren’t nearly enough evidence compared with what else could happen during 90 minutes’ worth of football action!

Conclusion

Hopefully, this article has helped you understand some of the basics of gambling on football at the best online casinos. If you want to get started with your own bets, then check out our handy guide above on how to bet online and start making some money! O’Keeffe questions Gray and Dyche’s relationship at Everton

Greg O’Keeffe has questioned how Demarai Gray may have responded to Sean Dyche’s methods at Everton’s training ground.

The Lowdown: Dyche not taking it easy at Everton

When Dyche was appointed as the Everton manager, a lot was made of how he was putting his foot down at Finch Farm as he banned snoods and hats from training sessions.

While this was said to be so the players trained as they played on the weekend, which would make sense, it remains to be seen what benefit that has had on the squad.

Since taking over from Frank Lampard at the end of January, Dyche has overseen two wins against Leeds United and Arsenal, while managing to get a misfiring Everton side to score twice in one game last weekend after putting installing top scorer Gray into the starting lineup.

The Latest: Gray may not be a Dyche favourite

However, O’Keeffe has been left less than convinced on the All Together Now podcast about whether or not Gray will have responded well to Dyche’s more straight-talking ways at Finch Farm, having started just once under the new boss.

He said: “It’s a very old-school attitude what Dyche has done there. It’s just a tactic to try and deploy some discipline and get some grit and strength about the group.

“It’ll work for some and it won’t work for others, and I think Gray’s the type who just wouldn’t have it, or certainly, if he had to have it, he would be unhappy and sulky about it.”

The Verdict: Dyche must find a spot for Gray

It’s rather strange that it took Dyche until his sixth game in charge to start Gray given that he was the club’s top scorer and looks to be the only person capable of finding the back of the net on a consistent basis.

The English winger has netted six times this season across all competitions, and even when deployed in an unnatural striker spot as he was last weekend, he still managed to impose himself on the game by netting a penalty.

Even if it was true that Gray wasn’t having Dyche’s methods behind the scenes, the Everton boss may well have to swallow his pride until at least the summer and get Gray into his team, or the goals may continue to be sparse within his team.

Leeds: Orta hit the jackpot with Summerville

Leeds have seemingly unearthed another gem in Crysencio Summerville, as the 21-year-old's market value has soared during his time at Elland Road.

How much is Leeds' Crysencio Summerville worth now?

Leeds would sign the Dutch winger when he was just 18, with the teenager joining from Feyenoord in a deal worth only £1.3m in September 2020.

It was something of a risk by Victor Orta given that the wide man had failed to make a single appearance for Feyenoord's first team, although he had caught the eye on loan with ADO Den Haag the season prior, contributing two goals and three assists in 22 appearances for De Residentieclub.

Summerville would make an instant impact with Leeds' U21 side, registering an impressive six goals and six assists in the Premier League 2 during the 2020/21 season, which saw him earn a promotion to the senior side under Marcelo Bielsa in the 2021/22 campaign.

He has since gone on to make 31 appearances for the Whites' senior side, contributing four goals and one assist, all of which came in the top flight this term.

Only Rodrigo has scored more goals for Leeds in the Premier League this season, so it seems fair to suggest that the 21-year-old is now an important member of Javi Gracia's squad, although he will need to contribute more if the Yorkshire outfit are to avoid relegation.

Summerville's four goals came in consecutive fixtures before the World Cup break and he has failed to register on the scoresheet in 11 appearances since then, but he is still just 21 and has plenty of time to work on his consistency as a Leeds player.

The Netherlands U21 international's last goal for the club came in the 4-3 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in November 2022 and Michael Owen was full of praise for the youngster's technique during the Premier League's coverage of the game.

He said (via Leeds United news): “This is such a good goal. The ball is behind him. He takes one lovely touch with the outside of his foot, then another one to keep him away from the defender and finishes it brilliantly.

“This is a really hard chance. He’s behind the defender in many ways when he gets the ball. I mean how he does that is really, really exceptional.”

Summerville's status as a regular first-teamer at Leeds has unsurprisingly led to his market value increasing significantly in his time at Elland Road, with CIES Football Observatory now valuing him at €10m (£8.84m), which represents an impressive 580% increase on the £1.3m Leeds paid back in 2020.

Therefore, Leeds, and Orta, deserve a huge amount of credit for bringing in the youngster for such a bargain fee three years ago.
