Many Sunderland fans have been left buzzing over some transfer news that has emerged on Danny Batth.

As per the official website of the Stadium of Light faithful, the central defender has now signed an 18-month deal on Wearside, joining on a free transfer from Stoke City.

He has plenty of experience of playing in League One before with 260 games in the Championship with the likes of Wolves and Middlesbrough as well as the Potters.

Nonetheless, Batth will now give Lee Johnson another good option at centre-back, and at 31 years of age, can mentor the likes of 18-year-old Callum Doyle as they look to seal automatic promotion out of League One and back up to England’s second division.

They’ve lost seven out of their eight games, and even if they go on to win the remaining six, a place in the knockout stage isn’t guaranteed. They’ll remember last year, when they were tied with seven wins and as many losses with Deccan Chargers, who edged them to the semi-final spot and went on to win the tournament.
Kolkata, on the other hand, are very much in contention and shutting out Punjab from this IPL on Sunday will propel them into the top four with five league games to play. They are bolstered by the return of Brendon McCullum, who joined the squad on Thursday and is likely to feature in the XI. Kolkata’s captain Sourav Ganguly inspired them to a vital victory against Deccan Chargers, which snapped their losing streak, and was backed up by an excellent bowling performance which succeeded in reining in Andrew Symonds during the chase.The track at the Eden Gardens has played slow, and Kolkata have bowled well on it, with their fast bowlers often cutting down on pace to keep the opposition in check. Minamino has struggled to make the grade at Liverpool, only managing 49 appearances since arriving from RB Salzburg two years ago, with more illustrious names keeping him out of the team.

He is a talented footballer who could be a shrewd signing by Leeds however, with a loan deal now making perfect sense. Phil Hay has confirmed the Whites are willing to wait until the summer to sign Aaronson, so should Minamino fail to impress in a temporary stint, they can simply replace him with the American once the season ends.

Minamino has been hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Jurgen Klopp – having netted six times in all competitions this season, so he should be able to provide that extra bit of creativity and end product Leeds are currently missing until they can try again for Aaronson.

The Japan starlet would give Bielsa the added firepower that he needs between now and May, especially with Patrick Bamford still sidelined.

A gente (jogador) estava sempre viajando ou concentrado e isso pesa muito nesta altura da minha carreira. The Verdict: Missed opportunity

Having previously been very close to joining Liverpool, many Hammers fans would have known of the Croatian’s quality.

With a wealth of experience in the French top flight totalling 87 appearances, it is a mystery as to why the east London club would not sanction a £15m move for the player, especially when it was position clearly in need of addressing.

As a result, Irons fans can only pray that their centre-back situation doesn’t get any worse before the end of the season.
