It’s fair to say it’s been a difficult couple of seasons for Jesse Lingard.The England international has struggled to hit anywhere near top form for Manchester United, and this season has seen him manage just two goals and two assists in 35 games across all competitions.

Reports in recent weeks and months had suggested that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid were interested in signing him this summer, and now, The Independent have offered an update on his future.

It’s suggested that Lingard has been in regular contact with both Chris Smalling and Ashley Young about what Italy is like, and that he’s “greatly tempted by a move to Serie A” – Milan are mentioned as one club that are interested.

After hearing about the news, United fans took to Twitter to share their reactions.

A couple of fans brought up Andreas Pereira’s name into the conversation, with one supporter suggesting Lingard should take him with him, and another saying that the Brazilian should leave first out of the two.

One United supporter took a more sympathetic approach, and suggested that as he is “unappreciated in England”, he should consider starting afresh elsewhere.

Judging by his woeful form, the time does feel right for Lingard to leave Old Trafford this summer.

With Bruno Fernandes also arriving in the January transfer window, there’s been a real step-up in quality in the attacking midfield position for United, and Lingard is unlikely to find a place in the starting eleven on a regular basis.

A move away could do him the world of good for his long-term career.

وتسبب ذلك الأمر في أزمة كبيرة لأكثر من منتخب، خاصة منتخبات أمريكا الجنوبية وعلى رأسها البرازيل، التي طالبت الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم بفرض عقوبة على أندية الدوري الإنجليزي.

وتُعد مصر ضمن دول القائمة الحمراء حيث حُرم المنتخب الوطني من خدمات نجم ليفربول محمد صلاح خلال مواجهة أنجولا، ولكنها تمكنت من الاعتماد عليه أمام منتخب الجابون، نظرًا لأن تلك المباراة كانت على أرض الأخير.

وطالبت دول أمريكا الجنوبية “الفيفا” بفرض عقوبة على أندية الدوري الإنجليزي جراء منع لاعبيهم من المشاركة في التصفيات المؤهلة لبطولة كأس العالم في قطر 2022، وبالفعل قرر الاتحاد الدولي منع أولئك من اللعب في الجولة الرابعة من البطولة المحلية.

ولكن تراجع فيفا منذ قليل بعد سحب اتحادات أمريكا الجنوبية لشكواهم، ليسمح للاعبين بالمشاركة في الجولة التي ستبدأ اليوم (لمطالعة التفاصيل من هنا).

وحسب شبكة “سكاي سبورتس” العالمية، فإن الأمر لا يقتصر على هذا الحد، حيث أن هناك مفاوضات في الوقت الحالي من أجل إيجاد حل لمشكلة دول القائمة الحمراء.

وأفادت أن الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم والاتحاد الإنجليزي ورابطة البريميرليج يعملون معًا بشكل وثيق لإيجاد حل مع الحكومة البريطانية بشأن قيود الحجر الصحي على دول القائمة الحمراء، لمنع تكرار الأزمة المذكورة في شهر أكتوبر المقبل.

وسبق أن سمحت الحكومة البريطانية للاعبين والمحترفين بالحصول على استثناء من المكوث في الحجر الصحي عند دخول البلاد قدومًا من دول القائمة الحمراء، ولكنها ألغت ذلك الاستثناء مؤخرًا بسبب تفشي جائحة كورونا داخل البلاد، خاصة المتحور الحديث.

هذا، وسيواجه منتخب مصر نظيره ليبيا في القاهرة يوم 6 أكتوبر المقبل، على أن تُقام المباراة الثانية يوم 10 من الشهر نفسه في بنغازي.

وتأمل مصر حل أزمة دول القائمة الحمراء من أجل الاستفادة من خدمات النجم محمد صلاح في مباراة ليبيا الأولى، التي تأتي في إطار منافسات الجولة الثالثة من تصفيات قارة إفريقيا المؤهلة لبطولة كأس العالم في قطر 2022.

Dados da audiência do Mundial de Clubes em diferentes países

No Brasil, onde os quatro times avançaram da fase de grupos e se destacaram dentro e fora de campo, os relatórios indicam que mais de 131 milhões de pessoas assistiram ao torneio pela televisão – a população total do país é de 212 milhões de pessoas. A TV Globo registrou suas três maiores audiências de 2025 durante o torneio. O jogo do Flamengo contra o Bayern de Munique alcançou 37,3 milhões de espectadores, enquanto as partidas do Palmeiras contra Inter Miami e Botafogo registraram a segunda e a terceira maiores audiências de 2025, respectivamente.

Na Espanha, 49% da população (cerca de 24 milhões de pessoas) assistiu à competição. Já na Itália, 48% da população (aproximadamente 28 milhões de pessoas) acompanharam os jogos. Segundo os relatórios, mais de 60% da população de Portugal assistiu ao torneio pela Dazn e pela sublicenciada TVI. O duelo entre Chelsea e Paris Saint-Germain foi o que teve maior audiência, e o jogo entre Inter Miami e Porto garantiu à TVI a segunda maior audiência do ano até então.

Na Argentina, o jogo entre o Boca Juniors e o Benfica alcançou mais de 9,1 milhões de espectadores. Isso significa o maior alcance no país desde a final da Copa Libertadores de 2023.

In what may go down as one of the biggest twists of the summer transfer window, RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is on the verge of joining Chelsea, not Liverpool.

The Germany international waxed lyrical about Jurgen Klopp and the Reds earlier this year, hailing the former as the “best coach in the world”, and that his style “might be a good fit” at Anfield.

And along with the news that Liverpool won’t be making Werner their newest signing, The Independent’s Melissa Reddy has revealed that the Merseyside club’s “priority” has been to “lock down Virgil van Dijk and Alisson for the long-term, while continuing to reward players that have delivered Champions League success and are close to ending a 30-year wait for the league title”.

After hearing Reddy’s update on why they didn’t move for Werner, Liverpool fans flooded to Twitter to voice their reactions.

A couple of Liverpool supporters couldn’t quite believe that the Reds look like they’re heading for a second consecutive summer without spending – last year only saw them bring in Sepp van den Berg for some money, with both Adrian and Andy Lonergan arriving on free transfers.

Another couple of fans felt that the whole idea that the club snubbed the chance to sign Werner in order to renew contracts, seemed to be a way of “spinning” the story, and didn’t seem to buy it.

Whilst it is true to point out the Reds have achieved considerable success over the past couple of seasons, simply avoiding refreshing the squad due to wanting to “reward” players who are already there, is just a recipe for stagnation.

Things are going great for Liverpool, with the Premier League title likely to be on its way very soon, but without new signings, the Reds risk standing still and just letting their rivals play catch-up.

وتحدث رئيس الاتحاد الجنوب إفريقي، داني جوردان، عن رغبة بلده في استضافة كأس العالم للأندية في تصريحات نقلتها مجلة “فور فور تو” في جنوب إفريقيا، وقال: “سألتقي بسكرتير عام فيفا في الأيام المقبلة حتى أعرف ما الذي سيحدث بشأن تلك البطولة”.

وتابع: “لقد أثبتنا في الماضي أننا قادرون على تنظيم تلك الأحداث الكبرى، وهذه ليست مشكلة كبيرة بالنسبة لنا ولدينا رغبة في استضافة كأس العالم للأندية”.

واختتم: “في الأسبوع الماضي، استضفنا فاطمة سامورا (سكرتير عام فيفا)، خلال مهمتها في تقصي الحقائق داخل البلاد، لقد تأثرت بفكرة استضافتنا لحدث بطولة كوسفا للسيدات في ديربان”.

Sheffield United yesterday played their first game since the Premier League returned and managed to draw 0-0 with relegation battling Aston Villa.

However, there were two noticeable players not in the squad due to injury, and Chris Wilder has spoken about when the two might return.

Jack O’Connell and John Fleck were unavailable for yesterday’s fixture and Wilder has since detailed the length of their injuries and their possible comeback dates.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live, the Blades manager said: ‘The commitment of both players – Flecky goes in for a challenge at Hull City in the last minute and I am looking at him thinking you can’t do that, but he trains and plays in that way and that’s taken him though his period at Sheffield United.

“Jack O’Connell collided in the last minute of a session on Monday. I believe Flecky will be back for Sunday, Jack we are just waiting on.”

The news is both positive and negative for the Blades, as Fleck possibly being available to be back in the squad to face Newcastle will be a huge boost.

With O’Connell, supporters would have been worried due to the fact that he had played every Premier League fixture for the Blades before the return of football and was crucial to helping the side sit comfortably in the top half of the table.

However, after Jack Robinson’s performance yesterday in his absence, supporters may feel less worried about O’Connell’s absence, with the ex-Liverpool man providing great cover in Wednesday’s clash. He picked up a 7.7 rating from SofaScore, which was the second best in Sheffield United’s team, and made three tackles whilst winning six out of his seven aerial duels.

Hopefully the Blades can continue their good run and push for a spot in Europe as the season enters its final stretch.
