With the summer transfer window now approaching, Middlesbrough are reportedly keen to sign a reinforcement from the Premier League who Michael Carrick loves.

It’s been a frustrating season for Boro at times, but they’ve still got plenty of hope to cling onto in the race to secure a place in the Championship play-offs. Sat eighth and just three points behind sixth-place West Bromwich Albion, Carrick’s side have just eight games to save their campaign. After just one defeat in their last five games too, a chance to fight for their place at Wembley is still very much on the cards.

That said, even as their fate hangs in the balance those in Teesside have already turned their attention towards the summer transfer window and any potential plans for Carrick’s side. The likes of Hayden Hackney have already threatened to steal the headlines amid links with a move to the Premier League, but Boro could yet make a Premier League move of their own.

According to Football League World, Middlesbrough are now keen on signing Mark Travers on a permanent deal this summer following an impressive loan spell from Bournemouth in the second-half of the current campaign.

Earning minutes away from the South Coast whilst Kepa Arrizabalaga occupies the starting role at Bournemouth, Travers could now complete a permanent departure if the Cherries decide to turn their own loan deal for the Spaniard permanent this summer.

Left to benefit looks likely to be Boro with or without promotion to the top flight this season. The arrival of the shot-stopper would certainly provide Carrick with a welcome boost too, given Travers’ Premier League experience and performances on loan in Teesside.

What should push Middlesbrough to welcome Travers on a permanent basis is the fact that Carrick is already a fan of the goalkeeper, telling reporters last week: “He’s got a really good character. He’s a good goalkeeper and he’s had to make some good saves for us.

“That’s what we obviously brought him in for and hope for. We don’t want him to have to make saves, but, when needed, and especially today to contribute to a clean sheet, is a big one for us.”

After conceding just three goals in his last three games, that praise should come as no surprise for a goalkeeper who may just be getting started at just 25 years old. If Boro can commence their summer by securing a player of Premier League quality then they may just set themselves up for an excellent campaign.

It’s not the first time that Travers has been at the centre of praise either, with former Weymouth manager Mark Molesley telling reporters back in 2020: “When he came into Weymouth I was absolutely delighted again because he was so young at the time but absolutely no doubt about throwing him in. He was fantastic for us.”

على صعيد بطولة كأس العالم لكرة اليد للشباب، يخوض منتخب مصر مباراة قوية أمام منتخب ألمانيا لتحديد المركزين الخامس والسادس، بعد أن ودّع البطولة من ربع النهائي على يد المنتخب البرتغالي.

الفراعنة واجهوا منتخب سلوفينيا في مباراة تحديد المراكز من الخامس إلى الثامن، ونجحوا في تحقيق الفوز بنتيجة 33-30، ليضربوا موعدًا جديدًا مع ألمانيا، التي سبق أن تفوقت على مصر في الدور الرئيسي بنتيجة 29-25.

While he did not want to divulge everything he had learnt from his twin dismissals, Labuschagne put some of it down to the conditions although did suggest Broad may have out-thought him in the first innings.”When you get out first ball you just throw it in the bag. Potentially I thought that they were going to come straight and then he got a nice ball that swung in the right area,” he said. “With a lack of bounce at Edgbaston, it sucks you in to thinking you can hit the ball a bit more and I just made a few poor decisions [against balls] that were really wide. They’d be eighth or ninth stump, some of those deliveries.”They were very uncharacteristic dismissals to how I’ve usually played, that’s why I was pretty frustrated with myself to get out that way and asked myself the question, ‘why did I play at those deliveries?’.”I’ve come up with my own summation of what that is. Now it’s if there’s anything I can do tactically or technically to make sure it doesn’t happen again. It’s a rarity that I’d play at those balls so it’s not something I’m going to overthink, but I hold myself to a much higher standard than those dismissals.”Labuschagne was happy to acknowledge the skill of Broad for having the better of him in the first Test. The only previous occasion he had been dismissed by him was the bizarre occasion when he walked across his stumps in Hobart and ended up flat in the crease.”He’s 2 and 0 now so he’s done his homework,” Labuschagne said. “That first [and only] ball I got in the first innings was a very nice ball. I haven’t faced Stuart Broad where he’s really been able to swing it away. He usually angles in, and that one definitely swung.”First ball, most of the time you just play and miss at that then you go ‘okay’, you can make the adjustments out there. I said this about [R] Ashwin, guys who take the time to do the homework, understand the game, and work out how they’re going to get certain guys out, I’ve got so much respect for them so if they’re putting the time and effort in and it pays off, that’s a credit to them.”On the flip side, Labuschagne was confident that he has the body of work to show he can respond to the challenge, which his batting coach Neil D’Costa had earlier told ESPNcricinfo was part of the “arm wrestle” that everyone enjoyed watching in Test cricket.”I’ve tried to make my game as adaptable as possible, so I don’t have one way of batting,” he said. “Some people play their whole career and bat one certain way and have one method that works… I’m always working on my game and working on my technique to think of ways I can score runs.”

وقال عبد العزيز خلال تصريحات لبرنامج اللعيب على قناة “mbc مصر”: “رغبة اللاعب هي العامل الأساسي في حسم أي صفقة، أما فكرة إن بتروجيت مُتمسك باللاعب من أجل المنافسة في الموسم الجديد.. لا أصدقها”.

وأضاف: “بتروجيت نادٍ محترم ويمتلك إمكانيات جيدة، لكن أندية الوسط من الأفضل لها التفكير بشكل استثماري، حامد حمدان انضم إلى الفريق بشكل حر أو مقابل مبلغ زهيد، لذا فإن عرض الزمالك لشرائه الآن يُعد فرصة ممتازة للنادي”.

وأشار مدرب الزمالك السابق إلى أن دخول أطراف أخرى في الصفقة لن يُغيّر من الأمر كثيرًا، موضحًا: “أي نادٍ قد يتفاوض، لكن يبقى القرار الحاسم في يد اللاعب، وإذا كان لديه رغبة حقيقية، فغالبًا ما تتم الصفقة في النهاية”.

وعن الأنباء المتداولة حول تدخل محمود الخطيب، رئيس النادي الأهلي، في الصفقة، صرّح عبد العزيز بلهجة حادة: “هذا التدخل ليس له أي مبرر، ويبدو أنه فقط لإفساد الصفقة على الزمالك، لأن من الناحية الفنية لا أعتقد أن الأهلي بحاجة إلى هذا اللاعب”.

واختتم حديثه قائلاً: “الكابتن الخطيب من حقه أن يتحدث كما يشاء، لكن الواقع يقول إن الأهلي لا يحتاج اللاعب فنيًا، والمتابع للمشهد يرى هذا بوضوح”.
