واستكمل: “بطولة الدوري هذا الموسم كانت مميزة من جميع النواحي، لأن الفريق خرج من خسارة أمام صن داونز بسبب أخطاء واضحة، وأقولها بصراحة كنت من أشد المؤيدين لكولر، لكنه ارتكب أخطاء كبيرة في تلك المباراة، ولذلك كان من الطبيعي أن يرحل بعدها”.

وأضاف: “عماد النحاس ركّز على الجانب النفسي في تعامله مع اللاعبين، وكان لذلك أثر واضح في أرض الملعب، ونجح في صناعة الفارق”.

وأفاد: “علي معلول قدّم أداءً رائعًا خلال الفترة الماضية، ويُعدّ من أساطير الأهلي، لكنني أفضل جيلبرتو عليه لأنني لعبت بجواره وأعرف طريقة لعبه جيدًا، لكن الأهلي محظوظ بامتلاكه هذا الثنائي، وأي لاعب سيأتي لاحقًا سيكون من الصعب أن يعوض أحدهما”.

واستطرد: “عماد النحاس منح الحرية للاعبي الأهلي داخل الملعب، لكن في الوقت ذاته كانت هناك التزامات تكتيكية واضحة دفاعيًا وهجوميًا، عندما تصل الكرة إلى أي لاعب، يعرف كيف يتصرف بها، لو لعب عماد النحاس بنسبة 50 أو 60% بهذا المستوى في مباراة صن داونز، لكنا قد فزنا بها”.

Postecoglou now faces a mammoth test at home to Man United, and another crucial 90 minutes when it comes to determining his long-term suitability for the Spurs dugout.

“The pressure will only get more intense, and I think that’s when he’ll be sacked, if players come back from injuries and there isn’t an immediate turnaround in form. That’s what they’re expecting and hoping for – players to come back and results to improve,” said former Tottenham scout Mick Brown this week (Football Insider).

“If it doesn’t happen, the blame will be placed on the manager. They’ve put so much emphasis on these injured players, so they’re willing to stick with him until he gets them back into the team.

“But if they come back and things don’t go well, it doesn’t bode well for Postecoglou’s position.”

Thomas Frank ready to leave Brentford as Tottenham target him

According to TEAMtalk, Postecoglou’s potential sacking is edging “closer” after their torrid cup results, and Brentford manager Thomas Frank is one of the options they’re considering as his potential replacement – should they decide to pull the plug.

Previous reports indicate that Frank is one of Spurs’ top managerial targets if Postecoglou leaves, and this is echoed again by TEAMtalk, who also share the Dane’s stance on leaving his current club this year.

The outlet reports that Frank is ready to leave Brentford for his next challenge at the end of the season, so if chairman Daniel Levy opts not to continue with Spurs’ current head coach, they could have an opportunity to tempt the former with a move to north London.

The 51-year-old, who’s done an impressive job at Brentford on a shoe-string budget, is highly regarded by those within Spurs – and he’s apparently an option they looked at to replace Antonio Conte before they decided to hire Postecoglou.

Called a “class act” by members of the media, Frank is certainly a solid candidate for the potential vacant role.

Malaga teenager Antonio Cordero has been heavily linked with a summer move to the Magpies and now another youngster, Assane Diao, has also been mentioned as a target. Several fresh faces have to arrive at the end of the campaign this time around in order to bring a freshness to the squad, and all the positions mentioned are key areas to improve in. At least one centre-back addition is imperative, considering Sven Botman is the only player in that position in his 20s, with Fabian Schar, Dan Burn and Jamaal Lascelles all arguably past their absolute peak.

A right-sided attacker is also vital, even though Jacob Murphy is enjoying an excellent season, with Miguel Almiron’s departure affecting the depth there, and an elite option is needed to be a regular starter, such as Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

Elgar was dropped on 7, when he offered Cummins a return catch, and on 19, when he gave Green a tough chance at point. Rabada played on, Keshav Maharaj hit Lyon to mid-off and Green took out Lungi Ngidi’s offstump to end South Africa’s inning with 19 overs left in the day.Though their attack had more to work with than they did at the Gabba, South Africa’s bowlers lacked energy and barely threatened. Five of Rabada’s first six balls, all to Warner, went down leg. In Rabada’s next over, Warner did as he promised he would and took Rabada on. He got off the mark when he pulled Rabada behind square for four. He repeated the shot in Rabada’s next over. South Africa’s spearhead had some reward when Khawaja nicked off. It was the fifth time in nine matches that Rabada has dismissed Khawaja.Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen were more disciplined but Warner issued a final warning, when he threw his bat at a wide Anrich Nortje ball that flew over the slips for four more.
