Será a primeira experiência do meio-campista como profissional no futebol brasileiro. Fenômeno nas categorias de base e titular da Seleção Brasileira sub-17 no começo da década passada, Piazon foi vendido ao Chelsea antes mesmo de estrear pelo time principal do Tricolor, em 2011.

Os primeiros meses na Terra da Rainha foram promissores. Contratado com um plano de longo prazo pelo Chelsea, ele foi campeão da Copa da Inglaterra de Juniores e venceu um prêmio individual pelos Blues. Quem explica é Liam Twomey, jornalista que acompanha o atual campeão da Liga dos Campeões no “The Athletic”, em entrevista ao LANCE!.

– Ele chegou muito bem avaliado, falado até mesmo como um potencial novo Kaká. Jogou muito bem pelo time B, ganhando o prêmio de melhor jogador jovem do Chelsea em 2012. O único jogo dele pela Premier League foi uma vitória por 8 a 0 sobre o Aston Villa, ele jogou bem mas perdeu um pênalti. A partir disso ele ficou preso no sistema de empréstimos do Chelsea – afirmou.

Foram nove empréstimos para sete equipes – Málaga-ESP, Vitesse-HOL, Eintracht Frankfurt-ALE, Fulham-ING, Reading-ING, Chievo-ITA e Rio Ave-POR – durante o tempo no Chelsea, clube que jogou pelo time principal apenas três vezes – contando jogos de pré-temporada. Piazon ficou preso no ciclo de cessões dos Blues e nunca conseguiu desenvolver o futebol.

– Depois de jogar bem no Málaga e Vitesse, foi mal no (Eintracht) Frankfurt, disse que havia muita correria na Alemanha e a carreira dele perdeu um pouco do impulso. Ele reclamou da política de empréstimos do Chelsea em uma entrevista afirmando que queria continuar em um clube, mas continuava renovando o contrato ao invés de deixar o vínculo (com o Chelsea) terminar. Ele ficou no Chelsea por muito mais tempo que ele precisava ter ficado e isso gerou consequências na carreira dele. Ele nunca conseguiu desenvolver todo o seu potencial infelizmente, mas torço para que as coisas deem certo no Brasil – completou Liam.

Piazon criticou a política de empréstimos do Chelsea em uma entrevista ao perfil “Oh My Goal” no ano passado.

– Nós voltávamos para a pré-temporada com o novo treinador e os jogadores e era sempre “se você for bem o treinador talvez te mantenha (no Chelsea”. Mas lá dentro você sabia que não tinha chance porque estavam pagando muito dinheiro para os atletas e definitivamente os usariam. Estaríamos lá por quatro, cinco semanas e então sairíamos por empréstimo de novo. É só negócio – afirmou o jogador.

RENASCIMENTO EM PORTUGAL
Piazon “se libertou” do Chelsea no começo do ano passado, ao assinar com o Braga até 2025 após rescindir com o clube inglês. A indicação veio de Carlos Carvalhal, com quem havia trabalhado no Rio Ave na temporada anterior.

O brasileiro teve impacto praticamente imediato na equipe: o camisa 11 foi decisivo no ‘Final Four’ da Taça de Portugal para trazer o título ao Braga. Fez gols na semifinal, contra o Porto, e na decisão, diante do Benfica. O time voltou a conquistar a Taça de Portugal após cinco anos.

– Ele demorou a conquistar a titularidade, teve Covid em dezembro de 2020. O ciclo ente fevereiro e março (de 2021) foi muito bom, ele foi fundamental numa sequência de muitos jogos com pouco tempo de intervalo, fez alguns gols e assistências. Se a chegada foi marcada por um título com a marca de Piazon, a temporada atual levou tudo por água abaixo. O brasileiro começou como titular, mas logo perdeu espaço com Carlos Carvalhal. Com atuações irregulares, foi para o banco de reservas e sequer entrou em algumas partidas da Liga Portugal.

– Na nova temporada, não me recordo de um grande jogo de Piazon. Esteve bem abaixo do rendimento que chegou a exibir em vários jogos da temporada passada e, por isso, foi alternando jogos em que era titular (8) com outros em que foi suplente utilizado (7) e outros em que nem saía do banco, mas não fez gols nem assistências. O treinador Carvalhal chegou a explicar, no início de janeiro deste ano, que ele ia perder espaço na segunda metade da temporada mas garantiu que não tinha nada a ver com o seu profissionalismo ou atitude e, então, os responsáveis entenderam que mais valia ele procurar outro caminho. Desde então foi treinando à parte da equipe, trabalhando noutros campos da Cidade Desportiva do Braga até ser encontrada uma solução para o futuro dele – completou.

ESTILO DE JOGO
Lucas Piazon é um meia avançado, o “camisa 10”, mas também pode atuar saindo do lado direito do campo – sempre partindo em movimentos diagonais. Tem como principais características o chute de média/longa distância e a capacidade de cobrar faltas – foi assim, inclusive, que marcou contra o Porto na semifinal da Taça de Portugal.

Na última temporada, teve, em média, 17.2 passes certos (85%) – 11.3 no campo adversário -, 1 desarme, 2.7 disputas de bola vencidas (49% de sucesso) e 52% de aproveitamento nas bolas longas tentadas por partida na Liga Portugal. Os dados são do “SofaScore”.

A contratação foi um pedido de Luís Castro, treinador que está em vias de ser oficializado pelo Botafogo e já teve reuniões com o departamento de futebol do Alvinegro para avaliar possíveis reforços.

Ruben Amorim’s appointment has injected a newfound sense of excitement into the Manchester United fanbase after years of discontent under the former management team.

Erik ten Hag was unable to extract what he desired out of the playing squad, despite spending upwards of £600m on new transfers during his time at Old Trafford.

Many of his additions have failed to impress, with 32-year-old Casemiro now looking well beyond the level required of a top-level Premier League talent – worth nowhere near the £70m they forked out for his signature in 2022.

The 17-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent times, restricting him to just three appearances, but when he has featured, he’s demonstrated his elite-level quality.

Lacey, who’s been dubbed as “exceptional” by analyst Ben Mattinson, produced a moment of magic against Tottenham Hotspur a of couple months ago, showcasing his excellent dribbling and ball-carrying ability.

He’s since drawn “so many comparisons” to Manchester City’s Phil Foden, as per Mattinson, for his ability to drift inside onto his left foot, showing quality well beyond his tender age.

Such a skill set could see him become Amorim’s next Diallo, able to operate in an attacking area, or even slightly deeper as a wing-back, with his intelligence at youth level making him a perfect fit for the new role implemented by the boss.

He certainly will need time to make an impact at Old Trafford, but his ability has given the supporters a reason to be excited – and who can blame them?

Given the current crop of talent emerging throughout the club, it’s certainly an exciting time to be a United supporter, with the manager having all the tools at his disposal to potentially end their decade wait for a league triumph should he utilise the options he has correctly.

Desta vez, Paulo Sousa optou por deixar Everton Ribeiro construindo por dentro e trazer amplitude com Bruno Henrique pela ponta esquerda. No jogo da Taça Guanabara, o camisa 27 atuou como referência e o capitão, como ala-esquerdo, por exemplo.

As alterações táticas não culminaram em chances criadas, apesar do amplo domínio da posse de bola, novamente inócua.

O Fla tem passado a impressão de que não tem feito o dever de casa para ser o time avassalador que almeja e investe para tal condição. E os dois jogos contra o Vasco ligam um alerta pois, como o próprio Paulo Sousa tem dito, o time vai enfrentar diversos adversários fechados ao longo da temporada. As dificuldades na criação não condizem com a qualidade do elenco.

-Muitas vezes jogamos muito para trás e temos que superar essa pressão. É algo que temos que melhorar, sobretudo nos últimos minutos de jogo, quando temos mais controle. Se sairmos dessa pressão, teremos mais espaço para encontrar capacidade de finalização – avaliou Sousa, que ainda viu Fabrício revelar a sua pedida para evitar bolas recuadas a Hugo (veja mais aqui).

Antes de a bolar rolar, Paulo Sousa já havia dito que o time precisava otimizar a amplitude para jogar contra o ferrolho vascaíno. O resultado positivo veio ontem, mas a falta de “punch”, baixa intensidade e repertório para fazer valer a superioridade ainda deixaram a desejar.

Despite Maresca’s claims to the contrary, it is clear that at almost the halfway stage of the season Chelsea are in the race for the Premier League title. Their win over Brentford, a seventh straight victory, lifted them four points clear of Arsenal and just two points behind current league leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand on all the sides around them.

However, there remain concerns at Stamford Bridge. One of those is in defence, where the Blues have managed to keep just three clean sheets this season, half as many as either Arsenal or Liverpool have managed, and Robert Sanchez needed to be on top form to help his side cling to three points against Brentford.

Part of that is down to the defence, where neither Axel Disasi nor Benoit Badiashile have looked capable of inspiring a Premier League title win, while Wesley Fofana has suffered another injury.

Chelsea were already on the hunt for new defenders, with the likes of Benfica talent Tomas Araujo and RB Leipzig starlet Castello Lukeba both having been mentioned over a potential move to west London.

Chelsea "seriously considering" January move for England defender

That is according to Chelsea reporter Simon Phillips, who reports that the Blues are “seriously considering” a move to bring back Marc Guehi in January.

The centre-back was part of Chelsea’s youth set up before he left to join Crystal Palace in a deal worth £18m, but with a sell-on clause added into the deal which demanded that Chelsea receive 20% of any profit from a future sale.

A regular for England, he was dubbed “sensational” and a “superstar” by Palace chairman Steve Parish, who added that it would take “superstar” money to let him leave.

However, Guehi is down to the final 18 months of his £50,000 a week deal at Selhurst Park, meaning that his value is only going to continue to decline unless Palace can agree fresh terms, something that looks unlikely at this stage.

This, plus the sell on clause (which would effectively allow Chelsea to sign him at a reduced cost), has made him an attractive option for Maresca and co. in west London.

Already with over 100 Premier League appearances to his name and just 24-years-old, he could be something of a bargain for any club who snaps him up, with Guehi able to play on either side of defence to a high level.

Chelsea are not the only interested party, with Newcastle having endured a protracted saga to try and sign him over the summer. But should they be able to complete a deal for the former Blue, it could be the final piece in their title charge under Maresca.
