The Reds are eyeing up improvements all over the pitch with Liverpool currently linked with moves for young talents Kenan Yildiz and Leny Yoro. The former is a Turkish teenager who has excelled with Juventus and could now be making a £25 million move to Merseyside. Yoro has also earned plaudits overseas with his exploits with LOSC Lille last season, earning him a £50 million price tag.

Slot's side are also looking at more established players with Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi reportedly on the radar of the Merseyside outfit. Joining Guehi on Liverpool's shopping list is Sporting defender Goncalo Inacio, who has a £51 million release clause that the Reds may look to exercise this summer.

With a central defender clearly high on Liverpool's list of priorities, it appears that the Reds are now looking towards a highly rated defender that Slot knows very well.

Reds keen on move for Feyenoord defender

As first reported by HITC, the Spanish press are stating that Liverpool are interested in a move for Feyenoord defender David Hancko. The outlet reports that the Reds are in competition with Atlético Madrid to secure the services of the £30 million rated Slovakia international, who produced a stunning goal line clearance as his side upset Belgium 1-0 in their Euro 2024 opener.

The 26-year-old made 34 league appearances for Feyenoord as they finished second in the Eredivisie last season, mostly as a central defender, but he can also play on the left. Hancko also featured six times in the Champions League as the Dutch side finished third in a group that contained Lazio, Celtic and the aforementioned Atlético Madrid.

Having played under new Reds' boss Slot during his time at Feyenoord, the Slovakian would be a logical signing for Liverpool to make. With Joel Matip set to leave the club this summer and uncertainty around the future of Virgil van Dijk, Hancko would be a quality asset for Slot's new look outfit, adding depth in two positions at once.

In the wake of rumours around his future, former Feyenoord defender Tim de Cler has backed Hancko to excel no matter where he ends up telling the Dutch press (via Sport Witness): “He is so stable and can basically do anything. I just think he is a top defender all-round.

“If he makes it to the next round, and that chance is quite high, his market value will also increase again. More and more clubs are becoming interested. And they were already there.

“I think he can easily handle a club just below the top six in Europe. Then I’m talking about a club like Atlético Madrid or Liverpool. He can certainly handle that.”

With Slot already facing a tough task in filling the shoes of the iconic Jurgen Klopp, it would certainly help his cause to bring in a player who he knows well but also has the quality to succeed at Anfield.

It’s fair to say that the lack of reliability within the defensive department last season at Manchester United was a huge problem.

The centre-back spot was an issue, but as the campaign progressed, United were unable to field a left-back.

Luke Shaw missed the majority of the campaign through injury, and his future as a first-team player is now in question as a result of his continuous setbacks.

So bad have his issues been that he's not even fully trained once with England at Euro 2024 yet. It would appear as though Gareth Southgate's gamble on his fitness is not paying off.

Importantly, the youngster is known for being an extremely technical defender who has the ability to play out from the back and retain the ball under pressure. This would certainly help United assert their dominance for much longer spells.

Progression is another aspect of his game that’s unbelievable, whether that’s by passing through the lines or carrying the ball into midfield. So impressive is that aspect of his game that football analyst Ben Mattinson has even compared him to John Stones.

On the other hand, the Italian is an extremely proactive and intense defender who can thrive in a high line due to his immense speed and athleticism.

However, the biggest advantage that the “sensational” Calafiori provides, as dubbed by the aforementioned Mattinson, is his insane versatility, which not only allows him to cover multiple roles but also gives Ten Hag plenty of tactical flexibility.

For example, there’s the potential that United’s in-possession setup could become a three-back, with Calafiori tucking in as a third central defender, which would enable Diogo Dalot to push further upfield.

Overall, the fact that Calafiori only missed two games through injury last season proves that on that alone, he’d be an upgrade on Shaw, but the rest of his statistics really do speak for themselves.

Last week, Newcastle United reached a critical juncture in their meteoric rise under Eddie Howe's management, with senior sources – as revealed by The Athletic – claiming that it was the most hectic and fear-riddled working week of their lives as concerns regarding a points deduction swelled.

Whether Benfica would entertain such a bid is unclear, though the Magpies have been buoyed by suggestions that they would be open to selling for the right price, whatever that may be.

What Antonio Silva would bring to Newcastle

Liverpool and Arsenal have both been noted as suitors for the young titan in recent weeks, so Newcastle must continue their efforts toward beating the Premier League juggernauts by signing a star who could make a real difference.

Silva is still so young in his career but has already chalked up 94 senior displays for the Eagles, scoring seven goals and winning the 2022/23 Liga Portugal title.

He's one of the best, and Silva could grow into his skin to emerge as one of European football's leading players in his position too. Journalist Antonio Mango called him "one of the best" young defenders in the world and it's surely only a matter of time before he decides to leave his homeland and ply his trade in a top division such as the Premier League.

While the Magpies cannot offer an instantaneous route into the Champions League, there is the promise of a platform to cement himself as a leading member of the team, where he should showcase his skills and rise to the upper echelon.

Newcastle have their work laid out ahead of them if they mean to topple the 'big six' hegemony once and for all, but by signing Silva, who could undoubtedly grow into a world-class star, they might just make their biggest signing yet.

Newcastle United are ready to make a new and improved offer for a "brilliant" transfer target, according to a key update from reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

Eddie Howe continues to eye up fresh faces in the summer transfer window, with Mainz attacking midfielder Brajan Gruda seen as a key target. He is a player who could dovetail beautifully with Anthony Gordon next season, assuming the Magpies are able to stave off interest in the England winger from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Newcastle are also believed to have made contact with Torino and Italy centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno over a summer switch to St James' Park, with the 25-year-old having the same agent as Sandro Tonali, although he looks to be nearing a move to Napoli instead.

The Englishman may have had a tricky 2023/24 season at times, suffering relegation from the Premier League, but he is a player with such a high ceiling.

ويستعد ليفربول لمواجهة أكرينجتون ستانلي يوم السبت المقبل، ضمن منافسات بطولة كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي.

وبحسب ما أوضحت “ليفربول إيكو” تم إلغاء جلسة تدريب ليفربول، اليوم الخميس، بعد تعطل رحلة الفريق من توتنهام.

واضطر ليفربول تغيير مسار رحلته الجوية للعودة من لندن، بسبب الظروف الجوية السيئة مع الضباب الجليدي الذي خيم على مسار الرحلة.

واضطرت طائرة ليفربول إلى تحويل مسارها إلى مطار برمنجهام، ومن ثم قرر سلوت إلغاء الجلسة التدريبية على أن يبقى اللاعبون في منازلهم اليوم.
